The Asset management team of UHURU manage funds for clients on a segregated basis. Portfolios are managed on a segregated basis to ensure that the client specific needs are addressed.
The team consists of the following people:
Alex Henry (Rico) Ernst
Rico started his career with SASFIN FRANKEL POLLAK Sec. in 2002 as a Junior Portfolio Manager after completing a B.Com. Investment Management degree with the University of Pretoria.
Rico was actively involved in the development of the Direct Share Option product and therefore started working as a Financial Advisor in 2005 with SASFIN.
In 2007 Rico decided to open his own firm as he believed that creating an independent company would create a much greater variety of objective resources to utilise in the management of portfolios. In 2008 UHURU ASSET MANAGEMENT was registered with the Financial Services Board.
Etienne Viljoen
Etienne started his career with DE WITT MORGAN Sec. in 2003 after completing an B.Com. Investment Management degree as well as B.Com. (HONS). degree with the University of Pretoria. Etienne was employed as a Portfolio Manager.
During 2004 Etienne became a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder and decided to join EQUITY DERIVATIVE INVESTMENTS as a derivatives trader.
In 2005 Etienne was appointed as Risk Manager International Markets for GLOBAL TRADER.
In 2008 Etienne decided to join UHURU as a founding Director.
Rudolph Siegfried Vermeulen
Rudolph started his career in 1996 at XENIUM as a trader. Rudolph also worked at FFO Sec. as well as Global Trader as Portfolio manager and then joined BJM Sec. as relationship Manager focussing on derivatives.
Rudolph holds various industry related qualifications and has a strong bias to Technical Analysis.
In 2009 Rudolph joined UHURU as Technical Analyst and Risk Manager.
Harold Sachar Thomas
Harold completed a BEng Chemical Engineering in 2009 and a BEng (HONS) Engineering Technology Management in 2010. During 2010 Harold was employed by UHURU as a Junior Analyst. Harold completed his Registered Persons Exams during 2010.
Wentzel Christo Pienaar
Christo completed a B.Com. Agricultural Economics degree with the University of Pretoria in 2004.
Christo started his career with Cortex in 2006 as a Derivatives Trader.
In 2008 Christo joined UHURU as Head of Admin: Asset Management and Trading
Christo holds various industry related qualifications.
